Okay, this is where I write the normal, boring things that everyone probably wants to hear.
Yes, Korea is wonderful so far and I am busy and happy. Daegu and the Keimyung University campus are as beautiful as was promised to me. I can walk up to the church (an imposing and beautiful structure above the campus) and look down at the whole city and the green hills surrounding it.
My apartment is lovely, comfortable and beautifully furnished, though more to come in future posts about the quirks of the place.
My coworkers are great, and everyone has been super helpful and friendly. Nonetheless, dealing with the details of setting up life in a foreign country is mind boggling. I have so much more compassion now for my international students in the U.S. and what they go through. To give you just a taste, I can't get a cell phone until I get back my passport from the alien registration office on September 19th, and I still don't know what to do with my household trash.
My students are shy (as expected) but earnest and funny and wonderful.
Korean food I have been a little shy about so far, mainly for lack of menus I can read, but what I have had has been delicious.
And that's about it for now. Keep checking this space for more adventures!

Go Heather! It sounds like you're off to (all in all) an auspicious start. I look forward to reading about your continuing adventures and discoveries. (Though I've had to promise Michael5000 not to become SO engrossed in your foreign escapades that I neglect to read his own prodigious domestic blogput.)
